At Sii Light, we’re always keen to help designers and specifiers push lighting beyond just function. In this newsletter, we introduce our Rek Bollard Application Guide, helping you get the most from the Rek collection. Shining a spotlight on two standout coastal projects where the LEDSC4 Rek delivers both performance, durability and elegance by the sea.
The Rek bollard is part of the latest architectural collection from LEDSC4, designed with durability and versatility at its core. Engineered for outdoor spaces, it combines minimalist form with robust technical performance, offering both 180° and 360° optics to suit a wide range of pathways and landscapes. With high resistance to impact and ingress, as well as cataphoresis treatment for coastal environments, Rek stands up to the toughest conditions without compromising on design. Its ability to achieve uniform, comfortable lighting with wider spacing means fewer fixtures are required, reducing visual clutter and ensuring a seamless integration into architectural and natural settings. The new application guide provides specifiers with practical insights on spacing, and installation, making it easier than ever to achieve reliable results in any environment.

This balance of design and performance has seen Rek specified in a number of coastal projects, where resilience and aesthetic integration are equally important. Two recent examples, Port Hedland Hotel and The Lodge Wadjemup, demonstrate how the collection enhances outdoor spaces while withstanding challenging conditions.
Durable coastal lighting at Port Hedland Hotel
Set on the Pilbara coastline, Port Headland Hotel is exposed to harsh sunlight, salt spray and high winds. Rek was chosen here for its proven durability in marine environments, with protective finishes and robust engineering ensuring long-term performance. By carefully spacing the bollards along guest pathways, the design team achieved uniform illumination with minimal spill light, creating a safe and comfortable environment without overwhelming the natural character of the site. The result is a lighting solution that is both practical and discreet, enhancing the experience for visitors while standing up to the elements. The project which uses amber temperature lighting, takes into account the light production, spill lighting and light pollution to illuminate the outdoor dining, while also protecting our night skies and unique wildlife.

Coastal Luxury at The Lodge Wadjemup
At The Lodge Wadjemup, a boutique coastal retreat, the design brief called for lighting that would support a sense of luxury and intimacy while remaining resilient to its exposed location. Rek’s clean lines and flexible optical options allowed the fixtures to integrate seamlessly into the architecture, providing soft, even illumination along walkways and garden edges. The bollards contribute to the atmosphere without drawing attention to themselves, striking a balance between safety, aesthetics and durability. Guests can enjoy the natural setting after dark, supported by a lighting solution that feels as considered as the architecture itself.

Together, these projects highlight the adaptability of Rek in coastal applications, showing how the collection delivers both technical performance and design sensitivity. For specifiers, the Rek Application Guide is a valuable tool to support decision-making, helping transform ambitious concepts into well-lit, enduring spaces.
